To charge a rechargeable vibrator, connect it to a compatible power source using its supplied cable, dock, or charging case. Make sure the device and charging connection are completely dry, then check that the charging indicator behaves as expected.
If you cannot see where the cable goes, start with the device’s charging setup. Some vibrators have exposed magnetic contacts, others use a small pin socket, and some charge inside a separate case. Identifying that connection makes the next steps much clearer.
Start with Your Vibrator’s Charging Setup
Does it recharge or use replaceable batteries?

Check the packaging, product name, or instructions for “rechargeable” and a description of the charging method. If your vibrator uses replaceable batteries, follow its battery instructions instead of looking for a charging port.
If you searched for “how to charge a dildo,” first check whether the product has an electrical function. A non-powered dildo needs no charging; a vibrating model may use either replaceable batteries or a rechargeable system.
Check both ends of the charging cable
“USB charging” describes only part of the setup. A cable can have a USB connector at the power-source end and a magnetic or pin connector at the vibrator end.
Look at both ends before choosing a replacement. Similar-looking magnetic connectors can have different contact spacing, and pin connectors can differ in length. Use the supplied cable or a replacement confirmed as compatible with your exact model.
|
What you can see |
Charging setup to check |
|
Small exposed metal contacts |
A matching magnetic charging connector |
|
A marked hole or tiny indentation |
A pin connector; check the model’s diagram |
|
A recognizable USB socket |
A compatible USB cable |
|
A fitted dock or charging case |
The device sits in the dock or case, which connects to power |
|
A compartment for replaceable batteries |
Battery replacement instructions |
Keep the original cable with its device. Similar-looking magnetic connectors can have different contact spacing, while pin connectors can differ in length.
Match Your Device to Its Charging Connection
Magnetic charging contacts
Align the supplied connector with the metal contacts on the vibrator. Let it settle into position without pressing or twisting it. If the magnets repel, check the connector’s orientation.
Then place the device down with enough slack in the cable to keep the connector attached. Check the charging indicator again after setting it down: a connection that worked in your hand may shift when the cable pulls against it.
If you need a replacement, confirm compatibility with the exact model. A magnetic connector attaching to the device does not establish that it is the correct charging cable.
Pin connectors and hidden charging ports
A pin charger has a narrow plug that fits into a small socket. Some devices have a silicone-covered, self-sealing charging port, so the opening may be difficult to spot.
Find the marked charging point in the product diagram before inserting the pin. If the instructions show a self-sealing port, use the supplied pin and follow the illustrated insertion direction.
Do not make a hole in an unmarked area or use another object to search for the socket. If the cable does not fit where the diagram shows, check the model and cable details before trying again.
A USB port on the device
Connect the supplied or approved cable to the USB socket. If the port has a protective cover, open it as shown in the instructions rather than pulling at an unfamiliar seam.
Check the device’s input requirements before choosing an adapter. Make sure the adapter matches the manufacturer-specified input voltage, current or power, and charging protocol. The shape of the USB socket alone does not confirm compatibility.
Charging docks and cases

If you cannot find a cable socket on the vibrator, check the case or dock that came with it. The cable may connect there instead.
Our SensOn S1, for example, uses a charging case. Place all components back into the case, then connect the case to a compatible power source using the USB-C charging cable. Keep the components dry before returning them, and keep the charging case and cable away from water.
This arrangement changes where you check the connection: look at both the components’ placement in the case and the cable connected to the case.
How to Tell Whether Your Vibrator Is Charging
Look for the indicator described in your model’s instructions. Charging signals vary: one device may flash while charging and become steady when full; another may stay lit while charging and switch off when finished.
The sequence matters as much as the light itself.
|
What the light does |
What it could mean |
How to confirm |
|
Flashes after you connect the charger |
Active charging on some models |
Check whether flashing is the documented charging signal |
|
Stays steadily lit after connection |
Charging on some models; fully charged on others |
Match the steady light to the model’s instructions |
|
Turns off after showing a charging signal |
A completed charge on some models, or an interrupted connection |
Check the expected full-charge signal and whether the cable stayed connected |
|
Never lights up after connection |
An indicator behavior you have not identified, or charging that has not started |
Check the indicator instructions, then follow the connection checks below |
|
Flashes during use |
A low-battery warning on some devices |
Look up the low-battery signal separately from charging signals |
A light that never appeared and a light that switched off after charging are different observations. Keeping that distinction in mind helps you avoid treating every dark indicator as a fault—or assuming every dark indicator means the battery is full.
Before leaving the device to charge, check that its signal matches the expected charging behavior.
How Long Should You Leave It Charging?

Use the charging time listed for your exact model. Product labels such as “bullet,” “rabbit,” or “wand” do not tell you precisely how long its battery takes to charge.
SensOn S1 takes approximately 2–3 hours to charge fully. You can find charging and care details in our S1 FAQs.
When checking another device’s specifications, look for two separate figures:
- Charging time: how long the battery takes to reach a full charge under the stated conditions.
- Runtime: how long the device can operate after charging, often under particular settings.
Do not use one figure to calculate the other. A five- or ten-minute charge does not translate into a predictable number of minutes of use unless the manufacturer provides a specific short-charge rating.
For the first charge, follow any first-use instructions supplied with the product. When it reaches full charge, follow the instructions for disconnecting it or leaving it in its charging system. A case designed to stay connected can have different instructions from a device charged directly by cable.
What to Check If Your Vibrator Won’t Charge
Start with what you can observe. A loose connection, an incorrect cable, and a device that will not turn on call for different next steps.
|
What you notice |
What to check |
What to do next |
|
You cannot find a charging port |
Whether the model uses magnetic contacts, a marked hidden port, or a case |
Find the connection diagram before inserting anything |
|
The magnetic connector keeps slipping |
Whether it matches the device and whether the cable is pulling it away |
Reposition the device and cable, then check the indicator again |
|
No charging light appears |
Cable connection, power source, and the model’s indicator instructions |
Reconnect as directed and try another compatible power source if permitted |
|
The cable is missing |
Exact product name and model number |
Obtain a confirmed compatible replacement |
|
The device remains below full charge beyond its expected charging time |
Whether the charging signal stayed active and the connection remained secure |
Contact support if the correct setup still does not complete charging |
|
It indicates a full charge but will not turn on |
Power-button instructions and any documented travel lock |
Follow the model’s startup or unlock procedure rather than continuing to charge |
|
You see a damaged cable, exposed wire, damaged charging connection, unusual heat, discoloration, melting, swelling, an unusual odor, smoke, or corrosion |
Visible condition of the device, cable, connector, and charging contacts |
Stop using and charging the equipment. Disconnect it from the power source if it is safe to do so, and contact the manufacturer or support about replacement or service |
When contacting support, include the model name, the cable or case you are using, the light pattern, and the checks you have already completed. A clear photo of the connector can help identify a mismatch.
Avoid opening a sealed device or improvising a battery repair as part of routine troubleshooting.
Keep Your Charging Setup Dry and Ready
After cleaning, allow the device and its charging connection to dry completely before reconnecting power. Water resistance during cleaning or use does not mean the charging accessories can get wet.
Follow the care instructions for your model. Our guide to cleaning sex toys covers cleaning and storage considerations; keep charging cables, cases, and adapters separate from washing.
Store the cable with its matching device, or label it if you own several similar ones. That small step makes the next charge easier and avoids guessing which connector belongs where.
Once your vibrator is charged, our guide to using a vibrator can help you get familiar with its controls and settings.
